Thomas A. Shell

Thomas A. “Tim” Shell, 63, Washington, formerly of Barnesboro, passed away Friday, February 16, 2018, in UPMC-Presbyterian hospital, Pittsburgh, where he was awaiting a lung transplant, following a courageous battle with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis.

He was born November 30, 1954, in Spangler, a son of the late William and Patricia Smith Shell.

Deceased, in addition to his parents, is a brother, William “Bill” Shell.

Surviving are his loving wife of 44 years, Mary “Annette” Shell; two daughters, Sabrina and husband Brian Kotrick of Northern Cambria and Sarah Shell of Portland, Ore.; a grandson, Dylan Kotrick of Northern Cambria; a sister-in-law, Kathy Shell of Northern Cambria; a brother, Patrick (Sherry) Shell of Northern Cambria; a sister, Janice Joyner of New Enterprise; and many nieces and nephews.

Mr. Shell graduated from Pennsylvania State University in 1976 with a bachelor of science degree in electrical design engineering technology.

He was general maintenance manager for Consol Energy.

Mr. Shell was a longtime member of Mon Valley MEMMA (Mining Electro-Mechanical Maintenance Association). He enjoyed golf, hunting, being outdoors, yearly family trips to Myrtle Beach, S.C., and Margaritaville and twice-a-year golf trips with friends.

He was a loving husband and dedicated father, who always put his family first.

Friends will be received from 11 a.m. to noon, the time of service, Friday, February 23, in Moriconi Funeral Home Inc., Northern Cambria. A celebration of life will be held at a later date in Washington.
