Betty J. Gerba, 88, of Finleyville, died Wednesday, February 21, 2018, in Monongahela Valley Hospital. She was born September 19, 1929, in Library, a daughter of Coy and Susie Richards Stump.

Growing up in the Finleyville area, she met her husband John and raised seven children. She had been employed at Radio Ear in McMurray until it’s closing and also for Ringgold school district as a custodian. She loved to bake and feed people. She was loved and known by many family members and people in the community and will be remembered for being a wonderful, loving, caring, (sometimes ornery), hard-working wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She will be missed but never forgotten.

She is survived by her seven children, Bill Gerba and wife Mary of Warren, Ohio, Linda Garrett and husband Bill of Colorado, Cathy Watters and husband Curt of Eighty Four, Coy Gerba and wife Judy, and Jerry Gerba and wife Jone, all of Monongahela, Terrie Thomas and husband Robert of Waynesburg, John Gerba and wife Diane of Finleyville; twenty-one grandchildren; twenty-six great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; sister, Grace Gerba of Glendale, Ariz.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Gerba Jr., who died May 6, 2000, and six brothers and sisters.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in Frye Funeral Home Inc., 427 West Main Street, Monongahela, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, February 24, with the Rev. Donna Schmoyer officiating. Interment will follow in Finleyville Cemetery.
