John Phillip Sharp
John Phillip Sharp, 74, of Washington, died Friday, February 23, 2018, in Washington Hospital.
He was born August 23, 1943, in Youngstown, Ohio, a son of the late Carl H. and Clara P. Culver Sharp.
Mr. Sharp, known by the handle “Firebug,” was a truck driver for 25 years.
He was a member of American Legion Hunt-Kennedy Post 639 in Claysville and enjoyed many varieties of puzzles and spending time with his family.
Mr. Sharp served in both the U.S. Army and U.S. Navy in the early 1960s.
Surviving are two sons, David (Carol) Hilderbrand of Claysville and Carl (Lorri) Sharp of East Finley; two daughters, Tammy (Kevin) Strickland of West Finley and Beth-Ann (Brent) Sharp of Mt. Braddock; a twin sister, Jean Burnette of Prosperity; six grandchildren; a great-grandchild; several nieces; and a nephew.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, February 27, with Pastor Joe Rearick of Windy Gap Evangelical Presbyterian Church officiating. Burial will follow in Washington Cemetery.
Military rites will be accorded graveside by American Legion Hunt-Kennedy Post 639.
