Roy F. John

Roy F. John, 87, of Waynesburg, died at 6:04 a.m. Sunday, February 25, 2018, in his home.

He was born Saturday, September 6, 1930, in Spraggs, a son of the late William Porter John and Blanche Victoria Taylor John.

Mr. John was a member of Rolling Meadows Church of God, Waynesburg.

He enjoyed deer hunting, when his health permitted.

When able, he worked as a laborer for Fox Ford in Waynesburg and Pennsylvania Department of Transportation.

Surviving are his wife, Virginia May Kerns John, whom he married January 13, 1973; a daughter, Peggy J. Morris and husband Richard of Mt. Morris; two sons, Furman G. John of Waynesburg and Stanley Gene John and wife Kathryn of Waynesburg; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Deceased are a daughter, Mary Lou John; a son, Roy W. John; five sisters, June V. Harris, Irene Knight, Helen John, Laura Maxine John and Letha M. Kughn; and two brothers, Charles John and Alton John.

Mr. John was the last of his immediate family.

Friends will be received from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., the time of service, Thursday, March 1, in Milliken and Throckmorton Funeral Home Inc., Daryl L. Throckmorton, owner/director, 197 North Maiden Street, Waynesburg, PA 15370, with the Rev. Richard Berkey officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Mt. Morris.
