Darlene F. Berchin
Darlene F. Berchin, 67, of Manheim, formerly of Bentleyville, passed away Thursday, February 15, 2018, following a brief illness.
She was born March 30, 1950, in Monongahela, a daughter of the late Frank and MaryAnn Letavic Berchin.
Ms. Berchin was a 1968 graduate of Mon Valley Catholic High School and a 1972 graduate of Millersville University, from where she earned a bachelor’s degree in medical technology. She returned to school and earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in education from Millersville University.
She worked in education as a biology teacher in both middle and high schools, retiring in 2008.
Since retirement, Ms. Berchin played organ, piano and guitar music for various churches in the area and with the group, Spirit in Song, that played in various nursing homes. Music and her love for animals were her passions.
Surviving are a sister, Denise (John) Quayle of Washington; two nieces; a nephew; and a great-niece.
Deceased, in addition to her parents, is a brother, Frank M. Berchin.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated in St. Phillip the Apostle Church, Lancaster. Interment was private.
