Mildred Stockdale

Mildred “Midge” Stockdale, 89, of Prosperity, died Thursday, January 4, 2018, in Presbyterian SeniorCare, Washington.

She was born February 12, 1928, in Vance Station, a daughter of the late William T. and Edna M. Ferrell Kimberland.

Mrs. Stockdale was a 1946 graduate of Trinity High School.

She owned and operated a dairy farm with her husband from 1954 to 1985. In addition, she worked at Dairy Queen for 21 years and as a matron for Intermediate Unit.

Mrs. Stockdale was a member of Upper Ten Mile Presbyterian Church.

She enjoyed square dancing, loved to mow the lawn and adored her dog, Bailey. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family.

On October 7, 1947, she married John Doyle Stockdale, who died January 28, 2013. Mrs. Stockdale missed him every day since his death.

Surviving are three sons, David M. (Wendy), Brian Douglas (Maryann) and Patrick Doyle (Cindy), all of Prosperity; a sister, Shirley (Frank) Huffman of Washington; seven grandchildren, Christopher, Benjamin, Shaun, Brian, Daniel, Melia and Maylei; nine great-grandchildren; and two nieces, Rebecca and Sherry.

Deceased are a daughter, Sandy S. Nolan, and a sister, Ruth Harshman.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, January 8, with the Rev. Fred McCloskey officiating. Burial will follow in Prosperity Cemetery.
