Joseph W. Rydzak Sr.
Joseph W. Rydzak Sr. of Washington passed away unexpectedly Sunday, January 14, 2018.
He was born October 2, 1934, in Washington, a son of the late Peter and Pauline Rydzak.
Mr. Rydzak was a graduate of Washington High School and lived in the Washington area his entire life.
He worked for Washington Steel for 31 years, 10 of which he served as a shipping supervisor.
Mr. Rydzak was a member of Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church.
He was also a member of Pulaski Club and Loyal Order of Moose.
Mr. Rydzak was a very hard worker, loving husband, father and grandfather and avid sports fan. He enjoyed working outside, keeping his yard in pristine condition, watching the Pittsburgh Pirates and Steelers and spending time with his grandchildren and companion, his dog, Abby. Mr. Rydzak loved to go to Daytona Beach, Fla., with his wife and family and visit his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Frank and Betty, in Chesterfield, Va.
On July 14, 1962, he married the love of his life, Jean Lesnock, who survives. They celebrated 55 years of marriage together.
Also surviving are four children, Cindy of Virginia, Tony (Kim) Comfort of Washington, Joseph (Debbie) of Washington and Richard (Dawn) of England; three loving grandchildren, Zac Comfort, Karlie Comfort and Stephen Rydzak; a brother, Edward (Virginia) Rydzak of Washington; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased are a brother, Paul Rydzak, and three sisters, Helen, Jessie and Stella.
Friends will be received from 1 to 3 and 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, January 19, in Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church, Washington, with Father William Feeney as celebrant. Burial will follow in Washington Cemetery.
