Melvin Duane Walker
Melvin Duane Walker, 75, of Hickory, passed away Saturday, January 13, 2018.
He was born May 23, 1942, on the family farm in North Bethlehem Township, a son of Melvin Jay Walker and Lois Hillberry Walker Bailey.
Mr. Walker was a 1960 graduate of Trinity High School.
He was drafted and served with the U.S. Air Force from 1961 until he was honorably discharged in 1965.
He attended carpenter school and training in Pittsburgh, graduating in 1970.
Mr. Walker worked for Brotherhood of Carpenters Local 84 as a union carpenter and supervisor. He retired in 2000, following 30 years of work on many commercial buildings and hospitals. He also built his family home.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 47 years, Donna Tustin Walker; three children, Nicole Grimes of Moon Township, Erin Walker of Hickory and Shawn Walker of Republic; five grandchildren, Nathan and Megan Grimes, Holden Cowden and Corrine and Steven Walker; sister Donna Boswell of Georgia; in-laws, Lois Jean Bedillion of Hickory and Donald and Carol Schwartz of Canonsburg; and several nieces and nephews.
A brother-in-law, Gary Bedillion, is deceased.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, January 17, in McIlvaine-Speakman Funeral Home Ltd., Robert K. McIlvaine, owner/supervisor, 27 Cherry Avenue, Houston, PA 15342. Services and interment will be private.
