Wilma F. Allison, 88, of Carmichaels, died at 2:45 p.m. Sunday, January 14, 2018, in Rolling Meadows Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Waynesburg, following a lengthy illness.

She was born August 7, 1929, in Cumberland Township, Greene County, a daughter of the late Ewing Eaton and Grace Marie Rhodes Blaker.

Mrs. Allison was a graduate of Cumberland Township High School and resided in Cumberland Township all her life. She worked as a switchboard operator for the former South Penn Telephone Co. and later as a bank teller at area banks.

Mrs. Allison was also a member of Daughters of Grace Choir in Greene County, Red Hatters Society and Order of the Eastern Star Martha V. Paul Chapter 404. She enjoyed sewing, gardening and spending time with family and friends.

As a cancer survivor from the mid-1990s, Mrs. Allison became active in the battle against cancer. She began by becoming a familiar sight around town, selling daffodils, candy and collecting donations at local businesses for American Cancer Society. After attending a Relay For Life event in Waynesburg, she became interested in working with the Relay For Life committee. In the past, Mrs. Allison and her team of helpers, “The Believers,” were part of the Greene County relay. The team’s fundraising efforts centered around the “quilt raffle.” Each year, Mrs. Allison would hand stitch a quilt and her team would sell tickets on them, netting $2,000 each year for American Cancer Society.

On June 6, 1949, she married Carl P. “Jum” Allison, who died May 1, 2010.
