Viola Lucia Cerenzia
Viola Lucia Cerenzia, 103, of Canonsburg, passed away peacefully Sunday, January 21, 2018, in Washington Hospital with her loving family by her side. She had been in Presbyterian SeniorCare, Washington, for 15 months for a leg injury.
She was born December 12, 1914, in Canonsburg, a daughter of Daniel Sr. and Julia DePaulo Powell DeVitis, who preceded her in death.
She married Charles Cerenzia Sr. in 1931. He passed away March 4, 1989.
Mrs. Cerenzia enjoyed being with her family, cooking and watching TV and football. She loved her family and playing cards. For the last 40 years, she lived with her son, Charles.
She was Roman Catholic and a lifelong member of St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church, Canonsburg.
Surviving are a daughter, Angela Belifore (James) of Houston; two sons, Charles (Cheryl) Cerenzia and Joseph (Adele) Cerenzia, both of Canonsburg; two sisters-in-law, Mary DeVitis and Gerry DeVitis; five grandchildren, Mark (Kathie) Belifore, Michael (Judy) Cerenzia, Todd (Gina) Cerenzia, Jody (Jeff) Lukan and Jamie Belifore; five great-grandchildren, Breanne and Dannel Belifore, Allison Luken and Cody and Colin Cerenzia; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased, in addition to her husband and parents, are three brothers, Peter DeVitis, John (Mary) DeVitis and Daniel DeVitis; three sisters, Carmel (James) Malone, Ann (John) Andresh and Marie (Louis) Natale; a stepsister, Yvonne DeVitis; and her stepmother, Catherine Maura.
Friends are welcome from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in Salandra Funeral and Cremation Services Inc., Joseph P. Salandra, owner/supervisor, 304 West Pike Street, Canonsburg, 724-745-8120, where departing prayers will begin at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, January 24, followed at 11 a.m. by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church, 317 West Pike Street, Canonsburg. Interment will follow in St. Patrick Cemetery, Canonsburg.
