John Frederick Wassam

John Frederick “Fred” Wassam, 76, of Canonsburg, died Sunday, January 21, 2018, in Concordia Hospice of Washington, Donnell House.

He was born December 12, 1941, in Indiana, Pa., a son of Kenneth and Kathryn Walker Wassam.

Prior to his retirement, Mr. Wassam worked as an engineer for Black Box. He enjoyed playing dartball and was an avid outdoorsman. He was a member of Moose Lodge 22, Fraternal Order of the Bears Club 83 and West Washington United Methodist Church. On November 23, 1972, he married the love of his life, Rowena Roberta Rose, who passed away June 17, 1993.

He was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Alan Steffy, and his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Jerry and Carol Rose.

He is survived by his two daughters, Desiree Rotondo and husband Joe of Baden and Danielle Wassam-Ries and husband Ryan of Triadelphia, W.Va.; sister Nancy Steffy of Indiana; four grandchildren, Adrien Rotondo, Cosette Rotondo, Brantley Ries, Braxton Ries; and several nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday in Sollon Funeral and Cremation Services Ltd., 30 East College Street, Canonsburg, Phillip L. Sollon, supervisor, J. David Sollon, director, 724-746-1000. Moose Lodge 22 will hold a service from 7 to 7:30 p.m. during viewing hours Thursday.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, January 26, in the funeral home, with Pastor Ross, officiating.

Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Gardens, McMurray.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly suggests memorial contributions be made to Donnell House, in his name.
