Michael A. Nixon, 61, of Canonsburg, passed away Thursday, January 25, 2018, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born October 13, 1956, in Washington, a son of the late Alfred and Edna Custer Nixon.

On September 16, 1978, he married Beth Hoholak, who survives.

Mr. Nixon was a member of Canonsburg Volunteer Fire Department for 40 years and served as a trustee. He was a recipient of the Firefighter of the Year award.

He was employed by Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are two children, Joshua (Kristen) Nixon of Pleasant Hills and Michelle (Nick) Lewandowski of Canonsburg; three grandchildren, Carmella, Nicholas and Henry Lewandowski; a sister, Sandy (Mark) Wilcox of South Fayette Township; a brother, David (Gina) Nixon of Canonsburg; and many nieces and nephews.

Deceased is a sister, Cindy (the late Rick) Morrow.

Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday in Warchol Funeral Home Inc., 3060 Washington Pike, Bridgeville, 412-221-3333. A Fireman’s Service will be held Monday evening at 7:30 p.m. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, January 30, in Canonsburg United Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Don Coleman officiating. Everyone meet at the church. Interment will follow in Oak Spring Cemetery, Canonsburg.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Canonsburg VFD or Canonsburg UP Church.
