Angelo G. Benedetti Jr.
Angelo G. Benedetti Jr., 87, of Wilkes-Barre, formerly of Bentleyville, passed away peacefully early Thursday morning, January 25, 2018, in Wilkes-Barre General Hospital following a lengthy illness.
He was born July 27, 1930, in Bentleyville, a son of the late Angelo Sr. and Mary Benedetti.
Mr. Benedetti was a 1947 graduate of Bentleyville High School and served in the U.S. Army in 1948.
He was an apprentice for Dependable Furnace Co. and owner/operator of Bentleyville Heating Co. and Bentleyville Trucking Co. He was an air conditioning sales engineer for Columbia Gas, superintendent of Global Development Inc., superintendent of Pocono Downs racetrack and president and owner of Western Corral.
Mr. Benedetti was an avid motorcycle rider and enthusiast, going across the country with friends and traveling Route 66 twice. He was an officer of Friends of the Forgotten, where he was actively involved in veterans’ projects. He participated in the Ride for Freedom yearly with Friends of the Forgotten.
Surviving are his loving wife, Greta Benedetti; four daughters, Fran Straw (the late Leslie) of Hummelstown, Sharon Kosak (Walter) of Plains, Diane Britton-Ellis (George) of Wapwallopen and Connie Douglas of Kingston; a son, Ken Benedetti (Barb) of Scenery Hill; nine grandchildren, Melody Kutch (Dave), Brian Benedetti, Kacie Santiago (Manuel), Amanda Straw, Eamon Lenahan, Katrina Matthews, Walter Kosak III (Misty), Duane Holub and Karlea Grayson (Trey); five brothers, Dan Benedetti of Ellsworth, Rudy Benedetti (Barb) of Monroeville, Jack Benedetti, currently residing in Arizona, Bob Benedetti of Austin, Texas, and Albert Benedetti (Vera) of Cincinnati, Ohio; a sister, Laura Hrutkay (George) of Bentleyville; and several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Deceased, in addition to his parents, are two sons, James Benedetti and David Britton.
Mr. Benedetti received care from Dr. Citti and cardiologist Dr. Amini, along with the staff at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.
A memorial service will be held at noon Sunday, February 4, in Cokeburg Presbyterian Church, 100 Washington Street, Cokeburg, PA 15324.
