William R. Kisner Sr.
William R. Kisner Sr., 83, of Sweet Root Road, Bedford, passed away Sunday, January 28, 2018.
He was born June 14, 1934, in Washington, a son of the late William E. Kisner and Gladys Phillips Kisner-Gomez. He was united in marriage to Betty J. Kisner. She preceded him in death February 13, 2008.
He is survived by children the Rev. William R. Kisner Jr., married to Debora of Everett, LeAnn Kisner of Muncie, Ind., Sandra Morris of Muncie and their sister, Betty Geyman of Albany, Ind.; adopted daughter, Michele Chadwell of West Virginia; siblings Joyce Lusher, married to Jack of Avella, and Donald Kisner of Eighty Four; four grandchildren, Bryan Kisner, married to Diane, Jonathan Kisner, married to Jennifer, Chelsea Morris and Jacob Morris; and four great-grandchildren Katrina, Samantha, Ryan and Daina.
He was preceded in death by siblings Margaret Tebalt, Mildred Gatten, LeRoy Kisner, Ernest LeRoy Kisner, James Elmer Kisner and Joseph Kisner and son-in-law Robert Morris.
He was a member of Everett Church of God. He was formerly very active in Washington Church of God, where he served on various boards and committees and was a longtime standing member.
Mr. Kisner served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War from 1951 to 1952.
Throughout the years, he was employed at Donley Brick Co., Harper Feed Mill, Atlas Glass Co. and later working for Findlay Clay for 33 years before retiring in 1996. He was a foreman and served as a shop steward and lead negotiator for labor union contracts for a number of years. He had a great work ethic and never missed work.
He enjoyed fishing, feeding the birds and squirrels and watching Westerns.
Friends and family may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, February 1, in Akers Funeral Home Inc., 299 Raystown Road, Everett.
Funeral service will follow at 7 p.m. Thursday in the chapel of Akers Funeral Home with Pastor Michael Singo of Washington Church of God officiating.
Burial will be held privately in Everett Cemetery.
