Robert J. King
Robert J. King, 81, of Avella, passed away Saturday, June 30, 2018, in Premier Washington Health Center, Chartiers Township.
Mr. King was born April 3, 1937, in Washington, a son of the late James Wilson and Mary Ellen Fowler King.
He attended Avella High School and was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during the Korean War.
Mr. King worked as an Ironworker out of Local Union 549 of Wheeling, W.Va., until he became disabled in 1968.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing and socializing with friends and family.
Mr. King was a member of Raccoon Valley Sportsman Club of Avella and was an umpire for Ten Mile Valley baseball league for 23 years.
On July 21, 1964, in Alabama, he married Yolanda R. McGlothlin, who survives.
Surviving Mr. King, in addition to his wife of 53 years, are a son, Edward “Hobo” (Dottie) King of Avella; brother Donald R. (Susie) King of Washington; three sisters, Ruth (Bob) Wade of Stow, Ohio, Shirley (Everett) Kelley of Avella and Peggy DiGiacinto of Wheeling; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased, in addition to his parents, is a brother, James D. King.
Friends and family will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday in Jerome A. Stefkovich Funeral Home Inc., 18 Campbell Street, Avella, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, July 6.
Burial will be in Independence Cemetery, Avella. Full military rites will be accorded graveside by Bert C. Siders American Legion Post 643 of Avella.
