John Clayton Vance Sr.
John Clayton Vance Sr., 87, of Star City, passed away Sunday, July 1, 2018, in Mapleshire Nursing Home, Morgantown, W.Va.
John was born February 15, 1931, in Uniontown, a son of the late John and Bessie White Vance.
He was always involved in the automobile industry and was owner of Vance’s Automobile Sales and Service.
John served with the U.S. Army.
He enjoyed working at his business and following NASCAR.
Surviving are son John Vance Jr. of Star City; Barbara Mayle and husband Gordon of Brookhaven; Carletta Brooks of Michigan; three grandchildren, Kristin Richards and her children, Griffin and Lila, John Cameron Vance and wife Kelly and son Declan and Katherine Oliver and husband John; and sister Wanda Yost of Chardon, Ohio.
John was preceded in death by his wife, Maxine Howard Vance, and Karl Brooks.
HealthSouth, Mapleshire Nursing Home and Westover VA provided great care and compassion in John’s time of need.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday and 10 to 11 a.m., the time of service, Saturday, July 7, in McCulla Funeral Home, 770 Fairmont Road, Westover, W.Va., with Pastor Fred Tomlinson officiating. Burial will follow in Beverly Hills Cemetery, Westover, with graveside military honors provided by WVANG and Westover Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9916.
