Michael E. Pazyniak Sr.

Michael E. Pazyniak Sr., 84, of Marathon, Fla., in the winter and of North Kingsville, Ohio, in the summer, passed away Friday, June 29, 2018.
He was born in Washington County, attended Canonsburg High School and dedicated many hours to making pierogies in the basement of the Polish National Catholic Church in Canonsburg. He was an ironworker and the owner of K and M Erection Construction Co. before spending his retirement fishing in Florida and on Lake Erie. He was a lifelong Pittsburgh Steelers fan and almost never missed a game at Three Rivers Stadium or on TV.
He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren by playing cards, and he always let his family win but it was because he consistently “overbid his hand.” He also loved sharing a laugh through his jokes, which never got old no matter how many times he told them (or forgot how to tell them). As an accomplished tinkerer, he could fix most things the right way, but everything his own way. Among his favorite things to fix were his many fishing boats, which were guaranteed to get you out to fish but not necessarily back to land.
Lovingly known as “papa” by his grandkids, he will be remembered as the “best papa on this side of the Mississippi.”
He was preceded in death by his son, Michael E. Pazyniak Jr.
He is survived by his daughter, Kim Windnagel; son-in-law Mark Windnagel; grandchildren Michael S. Pazyniak, Amanda Pazyniak Tankersley, Kasey Windnagel, Adam Windnagel and Kate Windnagel; and longtime partner, Marilyn Gorczynski.
A celebration of life will be held later this summer. For more information, email his daughter, Kim, at mikepazmemorial@gmail.com.
