Joseph T. Orient
Joseph T. Orient, 75, of Moon Township, passed away suddenly Saturday, July 7, 2018.
He was a son of the late Joseph and Margaret “Peggy” Orient; beloved husband of Charlotte Orient; beloved father of Heather Orient and Erik Orient and wife Megan; and cherished grandfather of Michael Orient; brother of Kathleen Orient and partner MaryAnn Gorka, Andrew Orient, Gregory Orient and wife Anna Marie, Richard Orient and husband Bill Hibsher and David Orient and wife Connie. He also had several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Joseph was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served in the Vietnam era. He was a member of the first Cavalry Association and Veterans of Foreign Wars Memorial Park Post 764, McMurray, where he served as an officer and chaired the Local and District 24’s Voice of Democracy and Patriot’s Pen competition. He was a member of South Hills Chorale, St. Benedict the Abbot Church choir for over 30 years, and most recently Holy Trinity choir in Robinson Township. He was passionate about his faith, and he enjoyed trains.
He was gifted at mechanical repair and loved working on mowers and mowing grass. He volunteered at Coraopolis Train Station and Carpatho-Rusyn National Headquarters.
Family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in Herrick Compassionate Funeral Service, PC, Edward M. Herrick, supervisor/owner, 951 Cliff Mine Road, North Fayette Township, Imperial, 724-695-7332. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at noon Thursday, July 12, in St. Benedict the Abbot Church, McMurray, followed by interment with full military honors in National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Cecil Township.
