Marie J. Polly, 93, of Houston, left to be with her Lord Sunday, July 15, 2018.

She was born June 28, 1925, in Houston, a daughter of Pete and Elizabeth Powell Politan.

Marie was a member of St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church, Canonsburg, where she was active with Christian Mothers and Women’s Guild.

Prior to her retirement, Marie worked for many years as a supervisor at Troyer Farms.

Left to cherish her memory are her son, John Michael “Chip” Polly II, and daughter-in-law Robin; sisters Lucille Tomsic and Caroline (Dominick) Dorazio; beloved granddaughters Lisa Marie (John) Spader and Kerri (Joe) Armstrong; treasured great-grandchildren Collin Spader, Caden Spader and Ella Armstrong; many dearly loved nieces and nephews; and devoted family friend Diana Martik.

Deceased, in addition to her parents, are her husband, John Michael Polly, who passed February 16, 1988; her daughter, Lynnda Willner; brothers Dominick, Pete and Joseph Politan; and sisters Thelma Hundagen, Rosella Finney and Mildred Martiscius.

Marie’s love for life, family and friends was evident through the exuberance with which she embraced everything and everyone around her. A cup of coffee and a warm meal were “a must” if you stopped by and time permitted. She always had a ready ear for listening and offered words of wisdom from years of life experiences. Marie had a warmth and gentleness that touched all who were blessed to know her and boundless energy when greeting each new day. She was a beautiful witness to her faith and instilled in all to always open your door and heart to a stranger in need, because you never knew when it may be Jesus.

Interim HealthCare Hospice of Somerset provided great support and wonderful and empathetic care of “Mom.”

Family and friends are welcome from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday in Sollon Funeral and Cremation Services Ltd., 30 East College Street, Canonsburg, PA 15317, 724-746-1000, where departing prayers will be recited at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 17. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10 a.m. in St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church, Canonsburg. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family kindly suggests memorial contributions be made to a charity the donor feels passionate about in Marie’s memory.
