Leota Kennedy Newman

Leota Kennedy Newman, 95, of Burgettstown, went home to be with the Lord Monday, July 16, 2018.
She was born September 17, 1922, in Good Intent, a daughter of the late Joseph and Pearl Thompson Kennedy.
Mrs. Newman was a very active member of Burgettstown Presbyterian Church for over 46 years, where she served on various committees, sang in the choir and ministered in the youth group.
She enjoyed flower gardening, feeding the hummingbirds, cooking and China painting, even having her own kiln. She especially enjoyed being with her family, grandchildren and friends.
Mrs. Newman was an avid reader with Billy Graham, Max Lucado and David Jeremiah, as her favorite authors. She enjoying watching old TV shows with her son, Brian, and watching Power Point Ministries with Jack Graham on TV.
In addition, her passion was her love for music and singing, even singing twice in the Billy Graham Crusade Choir. Her favorite was listening to Irish music and loved the original Riverdance.
Her whole life was about serving her Lord and others, so she is hearing the Lord’s own words “well done good and faithful servant” from Matthew 25:23.
Surviving are a son, Brian Newman of Burgettstown; her grandchildren, Chris (Leah) Jeram, Dan Jeram and Megan (Ryan) Roupe; and four great-grandchildren.
Deceased are her husband, Glenn Newman, who died June 1, 1990; her daughter, Beth Ann Jeram, who died December 3, 2005; and her brothers, Harry, James, Earl and Cecil Kennedy.
Friends will be received from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday in Young Funeral Home & Cremation Services Inc., Taucher Chapel, 23 Erie Mine Road, Burgettstown, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, July 20, with the Rev. Cinda Isler officiating. Interment will follow in Cross Creek Cemetery.
