Laura Ann McKinley

Laura Ann McKinley, 67, died Tuesday, July 17, 2018, in Norfolk, Va., where she had made her home for the last 45 years.
She was born June 26, 1951, in Pittsburgh, a daughter of the late Charles W. McKinley and Margery McKinley of Malden, Brownsville, who survives.
Laura worked for 26 years at Children’s Hospital of The King’s Daughters in Norfolk before retiring early due to vision problems. Her last position as front desk receptionist was her favorite. Over the years, she amazed families with her ability to greet them, remembering not just the child’s name but also the parents. She was able to recognize them by the sound of their voice and the way they walked.
She loved to dance and songs of the ’50s and ’60s.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by three sisters, Karen of Norfolk, Leslie of Brooklyn, N.Y., Margie of California, and her niece, Megan Thomas (Mark) of Washington, D.C.
Deceased, in addition to her father, is her brother, Charles W. “Chuck” McKinley Jr.
A celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
