Ciarra Maria Whitlock Thomas, also known affectionately as “Cee,” went to be with her Lord and Savior peacefully Wednesday, July 25, 2018, in Washington, at the age of 31, after battling breast cancer for 2½ years.

Ciarra is survived by her husband, Randy L. Thomas; daughters Karis and Randi Thomas; parents Lance and Deborah Whitlock of Washington; siblings Lindsay E. Whitlock Howard and Reid B. Whitlock, both of Canonsburg; her maternal grandparents, James and Donna Pryor of Houston; her paternal grandmother, Beverly J. Whitlock of Sewickley; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Deceased are her grandfather, Craig B. Whitlock Jr. of Sewickley, who died September 14, 2017; and a cousin, Joel L. Pryor, who died in March 2008.

Ciarra was born August 15, 1986, in Pittsburgh, to Lance and Deborah Whitlock. She was a 2005 graduate of Canon-McMillan High School and also received a bachelor’s degree in health information management from Central Christian College of Kansas in 2014.

Ciarra married Randy, whom she met while in high school, in November 2005.

She made a profession of caring for people at all of her jobs: Senior Life as a member assistant, Apria Healthcare doing Medicare claims and finally as a patient access associate at Washington Hospital.

Ciarra was a loving mother to her daughter, Karis, and her stepdaughter, Randi. Her children remember her as a kind, gentle-spirited mother who encouraged them to “always do their best and to treat people kindly.”

Ciarra enjoyed watching movies, which was one of the things she did with her family. “Coming to America,” “Jumping the Broom” and Doris Day movies were some of her favorites. Her favorite musicals were “Phantom of the Opera” and “Les Miserables.” She also loved to read. Some of her favorite books were “East of Eden,” “The Bluest Eye” and “Power that Changes the World: Creating Eternal Impact in the Here.” She also liked listening to music and critiquing it with her sister and brother, trying different foods, makeup, watching Youtube tutorials, Barbie dolls and “Cheryl’s Cookies.” Above all, she loved watching her daughter, Karis, play basketball and spending time with her nephews and nieces, whom affectionately called her “Tia.”

Ciarra was a member of Legacy Church International and was ordained as a teaching pastor in November 2016. Ciarra was witty and had a beautiful smile and a quiet strength.
