John R. Ketchem

John R. Ketchem, 79, of Waynesburg, passed away Friday, June 1, 2018, in Evergreen Assisted Living, Waynesburg.

He was born November 16, 1938, in Waynesburg, a son of the late John W. and Clemma Marguerite Clark Ketchem.

He was a graduate of the University of North Dakota.

Mr. Ketchem was the owner of Ketchem Construction in Waynesburg and specialized in coal mine elevator installation.

John enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his family.

He was a member of the National Rifle Association and had served as a member of the Greene County Republican Committee.

Surviving are his wife, Penny Clelland Ketchem; four children, Sandra Jo Ketchem, Dana Calvert (Gary), Kiperly Whitlatch (Eric) and Aaron Ketchem (fiancée Angel), all of Waynesburg; eight grandchildren, T.J. Calvert, Derek Calvert, Andy Calvert, Angela Karolewics, Jamey Whitlatch, David Whitlatch, Justin Whitlatch and Seth Ketchem; five great-grandchildren; brother Richard Ketchem of Waynesburg; and sister Cressida Katusa of Florida.

Deceased are son John Brett Ketchem and sister Ellen M. Doney.

Friends will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday in Behm Funeral Home Inc., 182 West High Street, Waynesburg. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 5, in Willow Grove Independent Baptist Church, 756 Hargus Creek Road, Waynesburg, with Pastor Scott Blair officiating. Private interment will be held at a later date.
