Marjorie Geraldine King Miller

Marjorie Geraldine King Miller, 96, passed peacefully Friday, June 1, 2018, in her home in Hickory.
Marjorie is survived by her daughter, Marlene Kay Grose, and her son Eugene “Butch” Fenton. Also surviving are six grandchildren, Tracy (Donald) Hamm of Frederick, Md., Paige (David Sisk) Grose of Las Vegas, Nev., Doni Miller, Jody (Barbara) Miller of Washington, Michele (Billy) Pena of Mt. Carmel and Crystal (Freddie) Hayes of Washington. Additionally, she had 13 great-grandchildren, eight great-great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, great- and great-great-nieces and nephews.
Marjorie is preceded in death by her husband, Okey Clarence Miller; son Clarence Leroy Miller; great-granddaughter Amber Justine Miller and her parents, Marion Miller King and Emma Alice Haught. Also deceased are several siblings, Cleo Margaret King, Mary Ethel King, Jesse Reed King and sister-in-law Ethel, Edna Bell King, Daisy Gwendolyn King, twin brothers Gilbert and Gilmore King, Guy Livingston King and sister-in-law Beulah, Katie Jane King, Orin Issac King and half sister Audrey Gladys King.
Marjorie was born at home in Crossroads, W.Va., July 20, 1921. She was a member of Union Baptist Church of Crossroads, W.Va. Marjorie lived and raised her family in Buffalo Township, Washington, before moving to Hickory in 2012, where she lived with her daughter. Marjorie took part in the war effort by working in a grenade factory. Later in life, she worked at Grose Market, Hickory, as a store clerk. She greatly enjoyed playing bingo, poker and dominoes. She passed time by completing cross-stitch embroidery pieces and doing word search puzzles. She enjoyed reading and watching “Jeopardy” and “Wheel of Fortune.”
She had a wonderful sense of humor and nurturing personality, caring for numerous family and friends. Marge, as she was known to her friends, was a generous, loving mother and wife who spent a lifetime giving to others. Having been a smoker of 80 years and living her entire life in steel and coal country, she suffered with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.

Friends will be received from 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday and Tuesday in Piatt and Barnhill Funeral Home, 420 Locust Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 6, with Pastor Gary Gibson officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Gardens, 3739 Washington Road, McMurray, PA 15317.
