Rose Fafone Ravasio
Rose Fafone Ravasio, 92, of Monongahela, died Tuesday, June 5, 2018, comfortably in her home, and with family members by her side.
Born November 5, 1925, in Indiana, she was a daughter of the late Pasquale and Maria Mondi Fafone.
Mrs. Ravasio retired in 1989 as a nurse’s aide, working at both the former Charleroi Memorial Hospital and Monongahela Valley Hospital.
A graduate of Indiana High School, Rose was a member of the former St. Anthony Catholic Church in Monongahela, belonging to its Ladies of Charity and Altar Rosary Christian Mother Society. Over the past 15 years, she also volunteered at St. Vincent de Paul Society in Monessen, an organization she deeply cared for.
Surviving are six sons and four daughters-in-law, Joseph P. and Millie Ravasio of Monongahela, Robert Ravasio of Egg Harbor Township, N.J., Thomas P. and Karen Ravasio of Monongahela, James J. and Marcia Ravasio of Ellicott City, Md., John J. Ravasio of Monongahela and Donald A. and Kristin Ravasio of Gibsonia; three daughters and sons-in-law, Christine R. and Fred Jones of Salt Lake City, Utah, Patricia M. and Bob Walker of Clearwater, Fla., and M. Bernadette and Mike Stager of Houston; 17 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death was her husband, Julius “Jules” Ravasio, who died December 22, 2001; two brothers, Father Joseph Abbatte and Robert Fafone; six sisters, Mary Valenti, Carmella Goldy, Dorothy Ingoglia, Sister Joseph Angela, Angeline Geletka and Josephine Antonuccio; and a great-grandchild, Theo Walker Huff.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. Friday in Marshall Marra Funeral Home, 216 Chess Street, Monongahela, 724-258-6767, marshallmarrafuneralhome.com. Friends and family are asked to meet at St. Katharine Drexel Parish, Bentleyville, for a Mass of Christian Burial that will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 9, with Father Edward L. Yuhas as celebrant. Interment will follow in Monongahela Cemetery. Friends and family are invited to join the family at 1 p.m., following the burial, in Mon Valley Country Club.
