Joseph Charles Gilbert

Joseph Charles “Doey” Gilbert, 91, of Carnegie, died Sunday, June 10, 2018, in his home.
He was born October 19, 1926, in Primrose, a son of the late Joseph Charles Sr. and Louise Nourigat Gilbert.
Mr. Gilbert was a 1944 graduate of Hickory High School.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
Mr. Gilbert was a pipefitter for J&L Steel, Pittsburgh, retiring in the mid-1980s.
He was past master of Centennial-Lafayette Lodge 544 F&AM, Carnegie. He was a former deacon of First Presbyterian Church, Carnegie, and a member of the USWA. He was a former member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars. He enjoyed bowling, dartball, euchre, golf and hunting.
On November 22, 1952, he married Dolores Elizabeth Allison, who died October 9, 1996.
Surviving are two daughters, Joanne Elizabeth Perhosky of Carnegie and Rene Marie (James M.) Salerno of Pittsburgh; a son, Charles Joseph Gilbert of Carnegie; a brother, Robert “Blackie” Gilbert of Midway; four grandchildren, Dawn (Justin) Comfort, Matthew Salerno, Courtney Gilbert and Zachary (Nia) Salter; and eight great-grandchildren.
Deceased are four sisters, Ellen Chiff, Hazel Schollaert, Florentine Suplit and Mary Hartsic; and five brothers, James, Lawrence, Raymond, Donald and Frederick Gilbert.
Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday in Nation Funeral Home Inc., 220 East Lincoln Avenue, McDonald, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 15, with the Rev. Justin Amsler, pastor of McDonald Presbyterian Church, officiating. Burial will follow in Robinson Run Cemetery, McDonald. Masonic services will be held at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.
