Robert Iams Edgar, 92, of Washington, died Sunday, June 10, 2018, in Southmont of Presbyterian SeniorCare, Washington.

He was born April 26, 1926, in Washington, a son of the late Herman and Sarah Iams Edgar.

Mr. Edgar was a graduate of Washington High School.

He was vice president and general manager of Piatt Machine, where he worked for 33 years until his retirement.

Mr. Edgar was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served from February 19, 1945, until his honorable discharge as a corporal December 12, 1946. For his service, he was awarded a Good Conduct Medal, Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon, Army Occupation Medal (Japan) and World War II Victory Ribbon.

Robert was a member of the Sportsmen’s Club in Arden, Washington Elks Club and Washington Country Club. He was a board member of Washington-Greene County Blind Association.

He loved woodworking and was known for his skills with his hands. He could make or do anything.

On June 28, 1962, he married Ruth L. Plymire, who died April 17, 2001.

Surviving are a son, David R. Edgar of Columbus, Ohio; a sister, Carol Ann Myers of Jupiter, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews.

Deceased is a sister, Kathleen Haviland Bracken.

Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday in William G. Neal Funeral Home Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where additional visitation will be held from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m., the time of services, Saturday, June 16, with Pastor Rob Berk officiating. Private burial will be in Washington Cemetery.
