John M. Whyel Sr.

John M. Whyel Sr., 88, of Uniontown, formerly of Greensboro, died Wednesday, June 13, 2018, from injuries sustained in an auto accident.
Mr. Whyel was born September 13, 1929, in Grays Landing, a son of the late Harold Sr. and Julia Cannon Whyel.
Mr. Whyel served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He worked as a truck driver and retired from school bus driving for Southeastern Greene School District.
John was a member of Teamsters Union and Greensboro-Monongahela Township Volunteer Fire Department.
He enjoyed deer hunting, NASCAR and the Steelers.
Mr. Whyel is survived by a son, David W. Whyel (Pam) of Carmichaels; a granddaughter, Heather Voithofer; two great-grandchildren, Morgan and Hunter Voithofer; a brother, Clyde Whyel (Joan) of Vacaville, Calif.; a sister, Carol Serenari of Elyria, Ohio; a sister-in-law, Betty Whyel of Point Marion; and many nieces and nephews.
Deceased, in addition to his parents, are his wife, Earla J. DeBolt Whyel; a son, John Whyel Jr.; and two brothers, Harold Jr. and Kenneth Whyel.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, June 18, in Paul M. Lesako Funeral Home Inc., 204 Dowlin Avenue, Carmichaels, PA 15320, 724-966-5100, where Carmichaels American Legion will provide military rites at 7 p.m.
