David G. Scruppi

David G. Scruppi, 69, of Avella, died Monday, June 18, 2018, in his home, following a brief battle with cancer.
He was born February 11, 1949, in Bulger, a son of the late Charles and Mary Turkaly Scruppi.
Mr. Scruppi was a 1968 graduate of Burgettstown High School and received his associate’s degree from Educational Institute of Pittsburgh Design and Engineering Drafting School.
Throughout his career, he worked in purchasing at CE Cast Products – Combustion Engineering Inc.; as director of purchasing at Severn Trent Services (Tetra Technologies); and as a procurement specialist at Ergon – West Virginia Inc., from where he retired in February 2015.
He was a member of St. Michael Roman Catholic Church in Avella.
He served in the U.S. Army Reserve in Canonsburg and was an active member of American Legion Bert C. Siders Post 643 in Avella, where he was commander from 2000 to 2001. He was also a member of the Avella/Burgettstown Knights of Columbus Council 3440 and Avella Sportsmen’s Club.
Dave enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing cards and going to casinos.
On July 16, 1971, in St. Ann Roman Catholic Church, Bulger, he married Gretchen O’Donnell, who survives.
Surviving, in addition to his wife of 46 years, are a daughter, Erin Scruppi, at home; two brothers, Charles Scruppi Jr. of Toronto, Ohio, and Raymond (Pam) Scruppi of Bulger; a sister, Linda (Sergie) Sziminski of Burgettstown; and several nieces and nephews.
He also leaves behind his granddog, Bow Wow, and his cat, Trixie.
Friends and family will be received from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in Jerome A. Stefkovich Funeral Home Inc., 18 Campbell Street, Avella, PA 15312. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 21, in St. Michael Roman Catholic Church, 97 Highland Avenue, Avella, PA 15312, with the Rev. Robert M. Staszewski officiating. Burial will be in West Point Cemetery, Avella, with full military rites accorded graveside by American Legion Post 643, Avella.
