Ethel J. Albani Hendershot

Ethel J. Albani Hendershot, 83, of Scenery Hill, passed away Monday, June 18, 2018, in Evergreen Personal Care, Washington.
She was born Thanksgiving Day, 1934, in North Bethlehem Township, in the Cursi farmhouse, the only daughter of the late Frank and Nellie Cursi Albani.
Mrs. Hendershot was a 1953 graduate of Ellsworth High School, where she was proud to be the first majorette of the school.
She was employed as a secretary with the State Highway Department in the late ’50s and early ’60s.
She enjoyed playing a part in planning her high school reunions and, even though she suffered from a long-term illness and underwent frequent medical treatments, it didn’t stop her from taking care of her mother at home for over 19 years and decorating her house with exquisite taste, which helped to make the holidays extra special for her family. She also enjoyed camping and wintering in Florida with their friends Barb and Vera and their families.
On October 3, 1953, at the age of 18, she married her high school sweetheart, Harold W. Hendershot, who died March 12, 2017. Together, they celebrated 63 years of marriage.
She was lovingingly cared for at Evergreen Personal Care under the direction of Amedysis Hospice workers Jackie Workman, Melanie Carroll and her loving daughter-in-law Brenda, with whom she shared a special bond.
Surviving are son Bill Hendershot (Brenda) of Scenery Hill; two grandsons, Brandon Hendershot (Tara) and Brent Hendershot (Kate); four great-grandchildren, Jase, Mia and Maliya Hendershot and Mason Patterson; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
At the request of the deceased, all arrangement are private and under the direction of John B. Greenlee Funeral Home Ltd., Beallsville. Interment will be held in Scenery Hill Cemetery. Contributions may be made to Amedysis Hospice, or Mrs. Hendershot asked that mothers-in-law and daughters-in-law simply do a kind gesture for each other.
