Glenn W. Mounts

Glenn W. Mounts joined his beloved, Carol Ann, Friday, June 22, 2018.
A lifelong resident of Buffalo Township, he was born May 15, 1926.
Glenn graduated from Trinity High School in May 1944, and enlisted in the U.S. Army the following day. He saw action with the 20th Corps Artillery of the U.S. 3rd Army in the Ardennes forest in the early months of 1945, and was gravely wounded in Luxembourg February 10, 1945. He spent the remainder of the war in U.S. Army hospitals and was posted to the occupation forces at the close of hostility. He was honorably discharged in 1946 and returned home to an apprenticeship as a mould maker at Duncan Miller Glassworks. When the plant was destroyed by fire, he became employed with Metro Glass, later Ball Glass Inc., from where he retired in 1987.
In 1950, Glenn married the love of his life, Carol Ann Claffey. They celebrated 67 years together.
He was the last of his generation. He was the fourth child of Robert E. and Mabel Patterson Mounts. His brothers were Lester, Frank, Harold and Wray, and his sister was Dorothy Mounts Miller.
Glenn is survived by his four loving children, Jonathan (Patti) Mounts and Sally Mounts, both of Washington, Joseph (Becky Lee) Mounts of Cocoa, Fla., and Rebecca Mounts (Mark) Blaskey of Arlington, Va. He was the proud grandfather of 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, whom he adored.
He was a member of Claysville United Presbyterian Church, where he had served as a deacon and Sunday school teacher.
At the request of the family, services will be private.
Memorial contributions may be made to Claysville United Presbyterian Church.
