Dorothy Williams

Dorothy Williams of Murrells Inlet, S.C., passed away Monday, June 18, 2018, after a short illness. She and her family resided in Finleyville for many years, prior to retiring in South Carolina.
She was born March 19, 1929, in Pittsburgh, a daughter of Fred and Hilda Sturm. She had two younger brothers, Fred and Michael, who are both deceased.
In 1947, she married Llewellyn Williams of Pittsburgh. They had three children, Llew, David and Timothy, four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She and her husband worked very hard to raise their family, sometimes working two jobs in addition to raising their family. Dorothy worked in educational food service for 17 years, and she displayed her creative talents when she worked in a framing shop in South Carolina.
Llew, David and Dorothy’s beloved dog, Lady Bug, survives today and misses her greatly. They, David’s wife Carole and Justin, Jennifer and Jessica were blessed to be by her side in her final days.
She loved her family, friends and her dog. She lived a long, proud and rewarding life and will be missed sorely.
She had this on her desk: “Do not weep for me, my children, for I do not walk alone. I’ve crossed the rolling river, and now I’m going home. Angel bands there will greet me, when I reach the other shore. Family members there are gathered, where we’ll never part no more. In my spirit I see friends and family left below. No more sorrow, no more suffering, no more tears will ever flow. Jesus Christ will carry us over in tender loving care, so get ready Christian brothers, for the reunion is over there.”
A visitation will be held from noon to 1 p.m., the time of a funeral ceremony, Tuesday, June 26, in Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home, Pleasant Hills. Interment will be in Jefferson Memorial Park, Pleasant Hills.
Memorial donations may be made in Dorothy’s name to The Humane Society.
