Hugh E. Link Sr.

Hugh E. Link Sr., 90, of Eldersville, died Wednesday, June 27, 2018.

He was born June 21, 1928, in Rae Station, a son of the late Robert W. Link Sr. and Sarah Carnahan Link.

Mr. Link attended Avella High School. He worked on the family farm, in a coal mine and then retired from Weirton Steel Corp. after 35 years.

He helped to build Raccoon State Park. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling, camping and going to church.

He was a member of Voice of Pentecost Church, Weirton, W.Va.

Surviving are a daughter, Shirley (Ed) Smith of Eldersville; son Hugh E. (Jean) Link Jr. of Follansbee, W.Va.; daughter-in-law Linda Link of Eldersville; brother Elmer (Rose) Link of Eldersville; sister Alice “Tootie” Walker of Langeloth; grandchildren James (Sally) Smith, Cindy (Chuck) Kennedy, Jonathon Link, Melissa Russell, Dan Link Jr. and Shawn (Krissy) Link; great-grandchildren Marie Smith, Jamie Smith, Kayla Rotellini, Joshua Kennedy, Hailey and Jonathon Russell, Tanner, Logan and Marissa Link and Brianna and Emma Link; great-great-grandchildren Aubriella and Zayden Rotellini and Joshua Kennedy Jr.; and many nieces and nephews.

On January 30, 1946, he married June Link, who died June 23, 1994.

Also deceased are a son, Dan Link; grandson Edward Smith Jr. and wife Lorraine; brothers Robert Link Jr. and William Link; and a sister, Helen “Jane” Orison.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday in Young Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., Taucher Chapel, 23 Erie Mine Road, Burgettstown, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, July 2, with the Rev. Toni Harrington officiating. Interment will follow in Chestnut Ridge Cemetery, Hanover Township (Paris).
