Jane Sowden Barnhart
Jane Sowden Barnhart, 64, of Jefferson, died Friday, March 2, 2018, surrounded by her family and friends, in Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh.
She was born August 18, 1953, a daughter of the late Robert W. and Margaret Morris Sowden.
Mrs. Barnhart was a retired coal miner from Gateway Coal Co. and Maxus Coal Co.
She was a member of Mather Christian Church and United Mine Workers of America.
Mrs. Barnhart loved animals, especially her horses, and riding her Can-Am motorcycle.
On August 23, 1997, she married Shirl Barnhart, who survives.
Also surviving are three children, Lisa Sowden (David) Schweikart of Jefferson, Rebecca (Christopher) Harris of Jefferson and Melissa Barnhart of Crucible; four grandchildren, Kaylin Schweikart, Aly Harris, Hailey Harris and Cameron Barnhart; two sisters, Mary (Guy) Nyswaner of Haughton, La., and Ruth (Thomas) Sellers of Kittanning; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in Behm Funeral Home, 1477 Jefferson Road, Jefferson, PA 15344, Gregory P. Rohanna, supervisor, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 8, with the Rev. Ken Jones officiating. Interment will be in Jefferson Cemetery.
