William Samuel McClain
William Samuel McClain, 95, of McDonald, died Saturday, March 3, 2018.
He was born November 19, 1922, in McDonald, a son of Samuel and Emma Roberts McClain.
Mr. McClain was a graduate of McDonald High School, Class of 1942. He worked as a smelter for O. Hommel Co. in Carnegie for over 30 years, where he retired in 1987.
He was a member of McDonald Presbyterian Church and United Steel Workers of America.
Mr. McClain enjoyed taking care of his lawn, swimming, exercising and working on trucks. Most important to him, was spending time with family and friends. Everyone who met him called him “Pap.”
On February 20, 1954, he married Mildred Thornburg, who died May 24, 1995.
Surviving are two stepdaughters, Marlene Dhanse of Midway and Alice June (late William) Geisler of McDonald; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased are two stepsons, William C. Dhanse and Raymond A. (Joann of Carnegie) Dhanse; two brothers, Melvin McClain and Edwin Stokes; and five sisters, Loretta Bellairt, Thelma Dewey, Vera Purdy, Nelma Snyder and Eldmira Hannan.
Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in Nation Funeral Home Inc., 220 East Lincoln Avenue, McDonald, PA 15057, where services will take place at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 8. Interment will follow in Robinson Run Cemetery, McDonald.
