Henry Anthony Wilson Jr.
Henry Anthony Wilson Jr., 89, of Wellsburg, W.Va., died peacefully Tuesday, March 6, 2018, in Lancia Villa Royale, Wintersville, Ohio.
He was born January 24, 1929, in Wellsburg, a son of the late Henry A. Sr. and Nellie Flaherty Wilson.
Deceased, in addition to his parents, are a brother, Jack Wilson, and three sisters, Ursula Durbin, Jo-Ann East and Mary Leslie.
Mr. Wilson was a graduate of Wellsburg High School and went on to serve his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
After his service, he worked and retired as sole proprietor of Wilson’s Newsstand. He was also a Brooke County commissioner for more than 25 years.
Mr. Wilson was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Wellsburg.
Surviving are his beloved wife of 56 years, Dolores “Dolly” Veltri Wilson, at home; five children, Edward “Eddie” (Cindy) Wilson of Wellsburg, Barbara Ann Turney of Virginia, James (Keli) Wilson of Follansbee, W.Va., John Wilson of Berryville, Va., and Dr. Mark (Michelle) Wilson of West Point, Miss.; a sister, Rita Watson of Charleston, W.Va.; 12 grandchildren; two great-grandsons, Samuel Warren and Miles Flynn; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday in Mullenbach Funeral Home, 669 Main Street, Follansbee, WV 26037, with a vigil service taking place at 7:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday, March 10, in St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 1300 Charles Street, Wellsburg, with the Rev. Dan Pisano as celebrant. Interment will follow in Immaculate Conception Cemetery, South Strabane Township. Full military honors will be conducted by Ohio Valley Veterans Memorial Squad.
