Bernard Nelson McCulley

Bernard Nelson McCulley, 80, of West Finley, passed away Tuesday, March 6, 2018, in Transitions Healthcare of Washington, South Strabane Township, with his family by his side.

He was born January 24, 1938, in Wheeling, W.Va., a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Nelson McCulley.

Mr. McCulley was a graduate of West Alexander School, and over the years he was a longtime farmer.

He was also employed by the Observer-Reporter and retired from West Finley Township as a supervisor.

He enjoyed farming, gardening and making things with his hands.

On August 25, 1961, he married Helen Mounts, who preceded him in death.

Left behind to cherish his memory are three daughters, Christine M. Laberdee, Debbie Selmon (Mark) and Cindy L. McCulley, all of West Finley; a sister, Doris Errett of Hickory; two sisters-in-law, Kathryn McCulley and Leona Sibert; a brother-in-law, Robert Kelso; five grandchildren, Tiffany Selmon, Bernard J. McCulley, Brittany Selmon, Courtney Selmon and Brandon Laberdee; and a great-grandson, Jace Swisher.

Deceased, in addition to his wife and parents, are a sister, Betty Kelso; a brother, Harold McCulley; and a great-grandson, Landon James Selmon-Swisher.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday in Young Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., 219 Main Street, Claysville, PA 15323 (724-663-7373), www.youngfhinc.com, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 10.

Interment will follow in Mount View Cemetery, Dallas, W.Va.
