Edna Dell Hillberry passed peacefully Saturday, March 3, 2018, in Presbyterian SeniorCare, Washington.

She was born May 12, 1921, in Mt. Morris, a daughter of the late Owen and Nancy Wade Renner.

She is the last surviving of her family of seven. She married W. Ralph Hillberry in 1938, and they were together 59 years before his death April 27, 1997.

Mrs. Hillberry loved her church and church families. While living in Venice, she was a member of Venice Presbyterian Church and served her Lord in many ways. She loved teaching Sunday school children and continued that for decades. After moving to live with her family in Washington, she became a member of Faith United Presbyterian Church.

She enjoyed quilting and cross stitching, making gifts of these to family and new friends. She loved playing board and card games, especially with her grandchildren, playing bingo with her friends at senior citizens, day trips with the Hilltoppers, word-search puzzles and watching TV Westerns and game shows.

Mrs. Hillberry spent some of her final years living at Presbyterian SeniorCare while working her way through dementia and Alzheimer’s, still bringing some smiles to family, friends, visitors and most of the staff and caregivers.

She had a major impact on many, especially her family and church. “Sunday school and beyond, we will all miss her, while she rests in peace with her Lord Jesus Christ.”

Surviving are two sons, Robert (Sally) Hillberry of Washington and Daniel (Nancy) Hillberry of Midway; grandchildren, Pamela (Craig) Marsh of Midway, Brad (Brenda) Hillberry of Punta Gorda, Fla., Brian (Cathy) Hillberry of Washington and Wayne (Virginia) Hillberry of Southview, 11 great-grandchildren; and 13 great-great-grandchildren.

Deceased, in addition to her parents and husband, are three brothers, Harold, Fred and Jon, who died in infancy; and three sisters, Evelyn Blaker, Cecil Fitzgerald and Leah Phillips.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 9, in Coleman-Taylor Funeral Services, 3378 Millers Run Road (Rt.50), Cecil Township. Private cemetery services will be held at the convenience of the family. Interment will follow in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Mt. Morris.

Contributions may be made in her memory to the charity of one’s choice.
