Leroy Booker
Leroy Booker, 80, of Washington, died Tuesday, March 6, 2018, in Washington Hospital.
He was born March 27, 1937, in Washington, a son of the late Arthur and Mary Hatcher Booker.
Mr. Booker graduated from Washington High School. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving from June 14, 1960, until his honorable discharge June 13, 1962, with a rank of private first class.
He worked as a machine operator for Tri-State Engineering.
Mr. Booker was an avid sports fan who enjoyed cooking and spending time with his grandchildren.
Surviving are a son, Michael Lightfoot of Pittsburgh; four daughters, Brenda Lightfoot-Booker and Stacy Lightfoot-Booker, both of Washington, Sharon Lightfoot-Dyson (Robert) of New Jersey and Sydney Lightfoot of Pittsburgh; five brothers, William Booker of Washington, Donald Booker of Seattle, Wash., Harry Booker, Lloyd Booker and Robert Booker, all of Washington; four sisters, Roberta Booker, Ernestine Marsh and Velma Bryant, all of Washington, and Louise Price of Baltimore, Md.; six grandchildren, Chante Dyson, Amari Lightfoot, Landi Smith, Lynzi Smith, Stuart Johnson Jr. and Serena Johnson; three great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Deceased are his wife, Delores Lightfoot, who died September 14, 2008; two grandsons, Orlando Anderson and Sidney Johnson; and a brother, Arthur Booker.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 10, with the Rev. Eugene C. Beard Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Washington Cemetery. Military rites will be accorded graveside by American Legion Edwin Scott Linton Post 175.
