Robert Elwood Haines

Robert Elwood “Bob” Haines, of Washington, passed away Sunday, March 4, 2018, surrounded by family.

He was born August 5, 1939, a son of the late Willis and Ethel Crumrine-Haines, who instilled in him his Presbyterian faith.

Mr. Haines was a 1957 graduate of Trinity High School. Following high school, he served his country in the 630th Transportation Company of the U.S. Army Reserves.

He was a longtime employee of AT&T in Pittsburgh, retiring after 37 years.

During his retirement, he enjoyed carving wooden items at Wheeling Carving Club, listening to baseball games, watching his favorite television show, “Jeopardy,” and traveling during the winter months with his wife, Carolyn, to visit friends on Anna Maria Island, Fla.

Surviving are his loving wife of 56 years, Carolyn; four children, Chris (Lisa) Haines, Shawn (Ranae) Haines, Lisa (Craig) Morella and Alicia (Anthony) Ricketts; eight grandchildren, Brandon, Sarah, Austin, Chelsea, Christopher, Haley, Fallon and Evan; a great-granddaughter, Leilani; two sisters, Carmen Chadwick and Nancy Haines; and many nieces and nephews.

Mr. Haines had two siblings, Stewart and Gaylord Haines; and a nephew, David Dotts, who have passed on from this world.

For those wishing to pay their respects, viewing will be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, March 9, with Pastor Eric Toohey officiating. Burial will follow in Washington Cemetery. Military rites will be accorded graveside by Edwin Scott Linton Post 175 of the American Legion.

The family suggests memorial donations to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
