Anna E. Palmer
Anna E. Palmer, 87, of Claysville, passed away Friday, March 9, 2018, in Premier Washington Health Center, Chartiers Township.
Born September 21, 1930, in Claysville, she was a daughter of the late James F.C. and Anna Walker Palmer.
A 1948 graduate of Claysville High School, she worked for Hensel’s Cleaners in Claysville for 15 years. She retired from Gashel’s Market in Claysville, after 27-plus years of employment.
She was a lifelong member of Claysville United Presbyterian Church. She was a member of Hunt/Kennedy Unit 639 American Legion Auxiliary since 1961. Over the years, she held many different offices and served on many committees.
She enjoyed golf, gardening, reading and playing solitaire on her computer. She was one of the first residents of Claysville Senior Apartments when it opened in February 2007, after leaving her lifelong home on Petroleum Avenue, where she was born.
After her retirement, she served on the board of directors as secretary/treasurer of Claysville Cemetery Association, until her health would no longer permit it.
Surviving are a nephew, David B. (Lynn) Palmer of Pearland, Texas; three nieces, Laura Morris of Pittsburgh, Ellen Palmer of Philadelphia and Kathleen P. (Ed) Hennen of Felton, Del.; three great-nieces, Natasha Morris, Jordan Palmer and Stephanie Buckley; three great-nephews, Andrew Morris, Brett Beckley and Alex Palmer; and her favorite cousin, Becky Walker Sprowls of Washington.
In addition to her parents, deceased are a sister, Mary L. Palmer, and two brothers, James W. Palmer and George C. Palmer.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in Claysville United Presbyterian Church, 134 Wayne Street, Claysville, PA 15323, 724-663-4465, where services will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, March 14, with the Rev. Jerome Creach and the Rev. Susan Petritis, chaplain for Gateway Hospice, co-officiating. Burial will follow in Claysville Cemetery.
