James D. Martin Jr.
James “Jim” D. Martin Jr., 83, of West Alexander, died peacefully in his sleep Friday, March 16, 2018.
He was born October 31, 1934, in Washington, a son of James D. Martin Sr. and Ada J. Kelly Martin.
Mr. Martin was a 1952 graduate of Trinity High School, and also attended Carnegie Mellon University.
He continued with a career in telecommunications at AT&T and National Steel and then fundraising at Ketchum, Georgetown University, McGill University, and the City Mission in Washington.
Most of all, he enjoyed farm life, spending time with family and friends and his vacations in Barbados and other beaches.
Mr. Martin is preceded in death by his son, J. Shawn Martin.
Surviving are his daughter Lisa Siler of Washington and son J.D. Martin of West Alexander; siblings Velma Howell of Sebring, Fla., Patricia Kreller of Cottonwood, Ariz., Richard (Debra) Martin of St. George, Utah and Thomas (Gail) Martin of Glendale, Ariz.; grandchildren Jakob (Cassie) Siler and Jeffrey Siler of Prosperity and Lacey (Nathan) Shipman of West Alexander; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to West Alexander Volunteer Fire Department or Claysville Volunteer Fire Department.
