Thomas Edward Westfall Sr.

Thomas Edward Westfall Sr., 85, of Taylorstown, passed away Saturday, March 17, 2018, with family by his side.

He was born August 26, 1932, in Blaine Township, a son of the late Paul and Lyda Westfall.

Mr. Westfall was a graduate of Claysville High School and went on to serve four years in the U.S. Air Force.

He owned (S.W. Miller) Thomas Westfall Insurance Agency, Washington, for 40 years.

A perpetually busy man with varied interests, he was devoted to his family, his yard and garden, and loved to golf and landscape at Dogwood Hills. He was also in a bowling league, a member of Taylorstown Church dartball team and played church league softball until he was 70 years old.

He was a caring, loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

Mr. Westfall was a past master of Claysville Lodge 447 F&AM and past district deputy grand master of the 29th Masonic District. He was also an active member of American Legion Post 907.

He was a member of Taylorstown Christian Church, where he served as a deacon.

On June 15, 1957, he married Betty “Jean” Crocket, who survives. They were married 60 years.

Also surviving are three sons, Thomas E. (Anna) Westfall Jr., Gregory (Maryann) Westfall and Robert (Sarah) Westfall; a daughter, Denice (John) Calvert; nine grandchildren, Crystal Noecker, Paul, Kallyn, Kelsey, Cassandra, Jessica and Gregory Westfall and Meghan and Emily Calvert; a great-granddaughter, Aspen Noecker; two brothers, Harold “Duane” and James Westfall; a sister, Carol Ann Rothwell; and many nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Deceased, in addition to his parents, are a brother, Eugene Westfall; and a sister, Mary Jane Thomas.

The staff of Washington Hospital provided care and concern.

Friends will be received from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Monday and 1 to 3 and 5:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in Hummell and Jones Funeral Home, 420 Locust Avenue, Washington, Thomas W. Hummell, supervisor, Douglas M. Jones, director, where services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 21, with Pastor Betty Riecks officiating. Interment will follow in Claysville Cemetery. Masonic services will be take place at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home.
