Dorothy Joan Gabler Winters
Dorothy Joan “Dottie Jo” “Dot” Gabler Winters, 80, of Aurora, W.Va., and DeLeon Springs, Fla., formerly of Waynesburg, died Thursday, March 1, 2018, surrounded by her husband and children.
She was born July 15, 1937, in Uniontown, a daughter of Thomas Herbert and Ellen Virgin Gabler.
Mrs. Winters was a graduate of Alderson Broaddus College, Philippi, W.Va. She was an elementary school teacher in Central Greene School District, Waynesburg, for 30 years and volunteered as a reading buddy in Aurora Elementary School after retirement.
She was an active member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Aurora.
Surviving are her husband of 58 years, James “Bud” Winters; a daughter, Ellen Cobb (Steve) of Suffolk, Va.; a son, Tim Winters (Michele) of Franklin, Va.; grandchildren Emily Cobb, Tyler Winters, Tanner Winters and Jeremy Cobb; and sisters Sally Ware of Clinton and Sandra Bloodworth of Greenville, N.C.
A memorial service will be held at noon Saturday, April 14, in St. Paul Lutheran Church, 46 German Settlement Way, Aurora, WV 26705, with Pastor Regina Beard presiding. Burial will be private.
