Angelo J. Alberta
Angelo J. Alberta, 79, of Washington, died Monday, March 19, 2018, in Southmont of Presbyterian SeniorCare, Washington.
He was born April 9, 1938, in Washington, a son of the late Joseph Alberta and Mary Sonson Alberta.
Mr. Alberta graduated from Washington High School in 1956. He served in the U.S. Navy for eight years before joining the U.S. Air Force and U.S. Air Force Reserve to work as an aircraft mechanic, retiring as a technical sergeant with 27 years of service. A decorated veteran, Mr. Alberta had 35 years of combined active and reserve service.
In addition to being an aircraft mechanic in the Air Force, Mr. Alberta worked as a civilian aircraft mechanic for the government.
He loved his family, which was his No. 1 priority. He liked people and enjoyed watching the Steelers and Abbott and Costello movies.
Mr. Alberta was a member of Immaculate Conception Church, Washington.
On October 20, 1960, he married Shirley Agnew, who survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Kenneth J. (Debra) Alberta of Washington and Mark D. (Deborah) Alberta of New Eagle, and two grandchildren, Shelby Marie Alberta of Washington and Brayden Angelo Alberta of New Eagle.
Friends will be received from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 24, in Immaculate Conception Church, Washington. Entombment will follow in Washington Cemetery. Military rites will be accorded in the cemetery chapel by American Legion Edwin Scott Linton Post 175.
