Goldie L. Ewing

Goldie L. Ewing, 75, of Washington, died Monday, March 19, 2018, in Southmont of Presbyterian SeniorCare, Washington. She had been in declining health for the past five years.

She was born February 15, 1943, in Washington, a daughter of the late James McMasters and Sadie Ross McMasters.

She attended Washington High School and worked at Shorty’s for 20 years and later at Wendy’s for several years as breakfast manager.

She enjoyed camping and traveling throughout the United States. She also enjoyed serving and helping others.

On June 20, 1983, she married Phillip E. Ewing, who survives.

Also surviving are a daughter, Sandra Smith of Washington; two stepdaughters, Pamela (Stephen) Kurtz of Mechanicsville, Va., and Deborah (Douglas) Holley of Houston, Texas; 15 grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; several great-grandchildren; a stepgreat-grandchild; sister-in-law Lois Ewing Podwills; and many nieces and nephews.

Deceased are two sons, Michael and Paul Smith; four sisters, Betty Helman, Norma Stanley, Clara Riggle and Pearl McMasters; and two brothers, James “Jingles” McMasters and Ronald McMasters, who died as an infant.

Friends will be received from noon to 2 p.m., the time of service, Friday, March 23, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, with Pastor Jeffrey C. Diedrich officiating. Entombment will follow in Forest Lawn Gardens, McMurray.
