Stephen A. Hillsman Jr.
Stephen A. Hillsman Jr., 76, of Mentor, Ohio, formerly of Crucible and Carmichaels, died at 2:25 p.m. Friday, March 23, 2018, in Heartland of Mentor, following a brief illness.
He was born September 5, 1941, in Nemacolin, a son of the late Stephen A. and Susan A. Sokol Hillsman.
Mr. Hillsman attended Cumberland Township High School and served in the U.S. Navy from 1959 to 1962.
He retired after working for many years at Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corp. in Allenport.
Mr. Hillsman was a member of Our Lady of Consolation Parish. He was a past commander of Cumberland American Legion Post 400 and a member of AMVets Post 109, Mentor.
He enjoyed fishing and devoted much of his time attending sporting events with his grandchildren.
Surviving are four sons, James Kelley and wife Dee of Mentor, Gregory Hillsman and wife Bonnie of Rices Landing, David Hillsman and wife Kate of Carmichaels and Todd Hillsman and wife Jennifer of Mentor; 10 grandchildren, Erin, Jaime, Emily, Casey, Lacie, Zachary, Carson, McKenzie, Morgan and Sydney: five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased is a grandson, Nicholas Hillsman.
Family and friends are welcome from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday in Yoskovich Funeral Home, 300 South Vine Street, Carmichaels, 724-966-5500, Martin J. Yoskovich, funeral director, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 27, with Pastor John Rich Dorean officiating. Cumberland American Legion Post 400 and the U.S. Navy will conduct military honors at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Cumberland American Legion Post 400, 205 East George Street, Carmichaels, PA 15320.
