Bobby Jack Owings
Bobby Jack Owings, 78, of Burgettstown, went riding over the hills Friday morning, March 30, 2018, in Premier Health Center, Washington.
He was born August 19, 1939, in Michigan, a son of the late R. Donald and Thelma May Melvin Owings.
An avid car enthusiast, he enjoyed his hot rods, NASCAR, stock cars and racing at Clinton Motor Speedway.
Mr. Owings was a self-employed, over-the-road truck driver for over 50 years.
His wife, Helen L. Holland Owings, whom he married in 1958 and 2004, survives.
Also surviving are four children, Rose Marie White, wife of the late Paul of Kittaning, Robert M. Owings and wife Jean of Slovan and twins Jackie Crewl and husband Scott of Carnegie and Jody Itzel of Houston; eight grandchildren, Jennifer Rose White, Danielle Skulalek, Paul Andrew White, Holly Johnson, Nicole Monroe, Shelbe Nixon and Logan and Zachary Crewl; several great-grandchildren; a sister, Shirley Abbott and husband Lee of Hanover Township; a brother-in-law, Dave Hook of Hanover Township; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased, in addition to his parents, are his second wife, Joann Shimon Owings, who passed away in 1995; and a sister, Wanda Hook.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday in Lee and Martin Funeral Home, 73 Highland Avenue, Burgettstown, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 3, with the Rev. Kenn Jacobs officiating. Interment will follow in Chestnut Ridge Cemetery, Hanover Township (Paris).
