Marcella Novak, 82, formerly of Monongahela, passed away Wednesday, March 21, 2018, in Putnam Center, Teays Valley, W.Va.

She was born January 12, 1936, in Finleyville, the youngest child of Paul and Catherine Petrosky Plinta.

Marcella was a graduate of Monongahela High School, Class of 1954, and a member of St. Damien of Molokai Parish in Monongahela. She retired from Western Center in 1998 and enjoyed her retirement spending time with her family and friends and volunteering as a foster grandparent.

She is survived by three daughters, Denise (Mike) Davenport of Milton, W.Va., Patty (Nick) Del Zingaro of Purcellville, Va., and Cathy of Finleyville; four grandchildren, Leann Arthur (Chas Holden) of Seattle, Wash., Nick Arthur (fiancée Frances Silva) of Santa Monica, Calif., and Annie and Marissa Del Zingaro of Purcellville; brother Paul (late Virginia) Plinta of New Eagle; sister-in-law Janet Plinta of Pittsburgh; her former husband, Edwin Novak of Finleyville; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members and friends.

In addition to her parents, deceased are her sisters, Pauline (late Floyd “Pat”) Williams and Mildred (late John) Fabin and brothers Charles and James, who died in infancy.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, April 2, in St. Damien of Molokai Catholic Church, 722 West Main Street, Monongahela, with the Rev. William Terza, pastor, as celebrant. Committal services and inurnment will follow in Monongahela Cemetery.

Guests are asked to meet at the church 15 minutes prior to service. In honor of Marcella’s love of spring, Easter attire is welcomed but not required.
