Stephen T. Kartley

Stephen T. “Tojo” “Baron” Kartley, 82, of Waynesburg, formerly of Crucible, passed away at 7:15 p.m. Monday, May 7, 2018, in Waynesburg Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, following an extended illness.

He was born February 22, 1936, in Greene County, a son of the late Steve and Susie Mehalovich Kartley.

Stephen attended Cumberland Township High School and served for 14 years in the U.S. Air Force.

He retired from Longfield Horse Farm in Shenandoah Junction, W.Va. After his retirement, he was employed at White Tree Services in Waynesburg.

Stephen enjoyed watching horse races at The Meadows Racetrack and the morning camaraderie at McDonald’s, sharing coffee with friends and patrons. He will be sadly missed by family and friends.

Surviving are three sisters, Ann Kartley of Washington, Stephanie Colbert (Robert) of Mentor, Ohio, and Susan White (Michael) of Waynesburg; five brothers, George Kartley of Waynesburg, Michael Kartley (Maria) of Hagerstown, Md., Vincent Kartley of Atlanta, Ga., John Kartley (Jeanette) of Solon, Ohio, and Joseph Kartley (Debbie) of Charlotte, N.C.; and several nieces and nephews.

Deceased are a sister, Mary Kartley, and three brothers, Nick, Melvin and Peter Kartley.

Services are private and under the direction of Yoskovich Funeral Home, 300 South Vine Street, Carmichaels, 724-966-5500, Martin J. Yoskovich, funeral director. The Rev. Sasa Nedic will officiate the services.
